The FiiO AM2 is the second interchangeable amplifier module made available for the modular X7 DAP and the upcoming Q5 DAC. Designed specifically for medium power headphones, the AM2 takes the MUSES02 op-amp chip previously seen in the FiiO E12A and uses it to drive the X7s sound to greater heights. The AM2 offers three times the driving power of the AM1 module (which comes bundled with the X7) for 32 Ω/1 kHz headphones and almost double the driving power for 16 Ω/1 kHz headphones. A higher peak output voltage at >8.8 Vp-p and an enhanced output impedance of <0.5 Ω (32 Ω load) coupled with a stated battery life of c.8 hours means that you never need be without powerful sound quality.
Changing your amp module is simply a case of unscrewing the screws towards the bottom of the X7 with the screwdriver provided. You then detach the AM1 module before replacing with the AM2 and re-attaching the screws. Make sure the X7 is powered down while doing this. If you are uncertain which is which, the name of the unit is marked on the rear side.
